by Richard D'Ambrosio /Old Town, the iconic family-friendly retail and entertainment tourist destination in Kissimmee, FL, is in the midst of a $10 million upgrade.
Located just south of Orlando, the open air, four-block venue features 52 retail establishments, including local artisans, clothing stores, nightclubs, national and regional chains, and local restaurants. Old Town will celebrate its 30th anniversary in December
"It’s exciting for us to be a part of the emergence of a new era for Old Town and sharing that with area businesses, locals and tourists,” said Brett Tollman, The Travel Corporation (TTC) chief executive. Both Old Town and TTC are owned by the Tollman family.
The renovation includes the return of the 85-foot-tall ferris wheel, a visitor favorite that was removed in 2013, and a reimagined entertainment district with new stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. Old Town also will be adding some new rides and a new stage for festivals and special events.
