ASTA to Weigh in on Ancillaries
ABOARD THE BREAKAWAY – ASTA plans to file comments on the Transportation Department’s proposed rule governing airline ancillary fees on Mon., Sept. 22, said senior vice president, legal and industry affairs Paul Ruden. ASTA is pleased with the DOT’s proposal requiring airlines to disclose basic ancillary fees at all points of sale, but the rule doesn’t address agents’ ability to sell ancillaries, he said. “I don’t know of any other industry where consumers are denied the opportunity to buy what they’ve been shown.”
