Capt. "Sully" Sullenberger Set to Keynote ASTA Global Conference
by James Shillinglaw /Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will be the keynote speaker at this year's ASTA Global Convention in Reno, NV, Sept. 25-28. Sullenberger is the pilot who successfully made a water landing on the Hudson River with his US Airways Flight 1549 on Jan. 15, 2009, saving all 155 passengers and crew on board. After retiring from US Airways in 2010, he went on to become an expert on airline safety and an aviation consultant for CBS News.
Sullenberger also has authored a book about his experience and his life, "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters," as well as a second book, "Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders."
Just three weeks before Sullenberger speaks to ASTA delegates, a movie about his heroic achievement will debut. "Sully" is directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Tom Hanks as Sullenberger.
