CDC Cautions Men with Pregnant Partners to Beware of Zika
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday said that men with pregnant partners who live in or have traveled to a Zika-infected area should use condoms or abstain from sex for the duration of the pregnancy, and “discuss the male partner’s potential exposures and history of Zika-like illness with the pregnant woman’s health care provider.”
Still, in a Reuters/Ipsos poll released today, nearly half (48%) of Americans surveyed said the Zika outbreak didn’t change the likelihood of their visiting Latin American and the Caribbean. However 41% said they were less likely to book trips to affected destinations.
Six out of 10 Americans aware of Zika said the virus concerned them, including 18% who said they were very concerned.
The CDC has advised pregnant women to avoid travel to areas with an active outbreak of Zika.
