Canada’s Banff National Park Gets $26 Million Gondola and Conference Center
by Anna Gleksman /Even as the U.S. national parks celebrate their 100th anniversary, Canada is sprucing up its national park, too. Banff National Park, Canada’s first national park and the third in the world, is getting a new $26 million gondola and conference center nestled above the Canadian Rockies.
When it opens on August 1, the Banff Gondola will include conference space with 360-degree views of the town of Banff, the Bow Valley, and the surrounding Rocky Mountains. It will be able to accommodate as many as 150 people for corporate events, weddings, and other gatherings.
Also helping to promote Banff is the 40th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, which last week held a press conference showcasing some of the 35 short films it will be showing in more than 40 countries around the world.
