Carnival: 3 Million Passengers at New Orleans Since Katrina
It has been 10 years since Hurricane Katrina moved through New Orleans, and next year, Carnival Cruise Line will welcome its 3 millionth passenger at the port since the storm. The cruise line resumed service in New Orleans 14 months after Katrina hit, carrying less than 16,000 passengers in 2006 but gradually increasing from there. The largest cruise line operating out of New Orleans, Carnival will carry a record 450,000 passengers from the city next year. Both the Carnival Dream and Carnival Elation are based in New Orleans, sailing Caribbean and Mexican cruises, respectively.
