Carnival Considers Bahamas Development

“What we’re thinking is we have all these ships in Florida that are going to the Bahamas now, specifically Freeport…why not invest in a private destination in the Bahamas where we can put a lot of that deployment?” De Navarra said.
While Carnival has Amber Cove in the Caribbean, it is the only major cruise line without a private destination in the Bahamas, limiting its ability to create Bahamas itineraries. If Carnival does build a private port in the Bahamas, half its fleet will be able to use it right away, De Navarra said. Carnival could “push the experience off the ship and extend the experience of Carnival” to land.
A Bahamas port is one of Carnival’s “most critical strategic projects,” De Navarra said, but while the line has “made some positive developments," no time frame has been set.
