Jerusalem has added to its collection of historic sites with the opening of the Villa Brown, a restored private villa from the Ottoman era turned into a 24-room boutique hotel, just a five-minute walk from the Old City. The original walls of exposed stone date back more than 100 years, but the décor has been completely restored by Jerusalem-based architects Galit Shifman Bar-Natan and Michal Cohen Magen. There’s an open-air veranda and tea in the garden, evoking the high style of the British Mandate here, plus a subterranean Cave Bar; a rooftop spa, open-air Jacuzzi and lounge overlooking the City of David; and modern meeting facilities.
