Costa Building Largest Guest Capacity Cruise Ships
Costa Cruises plans to build two new cruise ships which will be the largest ever based on guest capacity. The two ships are expected to debut in 2019 and 2020, and will be able to accommodate up to 6,600 guests, with 2,600 passenger cabins and 5,200 lower berths. The two new ships will be built by Meyer Werft and powered by liquefied natural gas, a first for the cruise industry.
“As we continue enhancing our fleet, it is very important to us that every decision we make in the development of these new ships is about the guest experience,” said Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corp., which owns Costa. “Our goal [is] to exceed guest expectations and create great vacation memories for every person who boards one of our ships.”
