The new Cunard Queen Mary 2 is bringing a collection of 450 fine wines on board, including one bottle valued at $4,500.
The wine, all available for the first time by the glass, will join the Queen Mary 2’s enhanced wine cellar that will be added during a 25-day refit this June.
Forty-six different vintage ports will be available, each produced in a key year of the 176-year history of Cunard. The bottles will be displayed in the ship’s Carinthia Lounge.
The crown jewel of the cellar, the $4,500 California Screaming Eagle, is one of the most celebrated and expensive wines in Napa.
Meanwhile, Cunard Wine Academy, a set of master classes, will allow cruisers to taste, pair, and learn more about wine.
Cunard is also introducing a new Coravin wine pouring system on board. Coravin uses a needle to extract a desired quantity of wine from the bottle without compromising the quality.
The refit also will add 15 solo cabins, a new French restaurant, and changes to the Kings Court.
