Disney Parks Streamlines Magical Extras Delivery Process

Instead of travel agents receiving a generic booklet from the Walt Disney Travel Company, information about Magical Extras will be mailed to clients in their MagicBand delivery box.
The new process for Magical Extra card and voucher delivery will begin Jan. 1, 2018. Guests will receive one Magical Extras Savings Card, four vouchers for Miniature Golf, and four vouchers for the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex per package. If guests opt out of using a MagicBand, they will receive the information upon check-in at their hotel.
The announcement was met by mixed reaction from travel agents. In the comment section on the Disney Travel News Blog, one travel advisor said the change limits her engagement with clients, who will have nothing to look at when they visit her to go over the details of the trip. Another agent agreed, saying “our collateral material from Disney is now next-to-nothing.”
Agents said Disney no longer sends them printed brochures, though many wished they were still provided, as clients continue to request them.
“The steps are continuing to eventually eliminate the travel consultant. The knowledge the agent brings to the table for the client is vitally important but the desire for the consumer to go directly circumvents this service,” said another travel agent.
However, some said the move would be more convenient for their clients. One agent added “as a small-town agency, we appreciate any savings you can offer (of time and money),” while another said the change “will really streamline things and solve a lot of problems not only for clients but make things easier for the agents, too. Clients always look forward to getting Mickey mail, too, so this is great!”
