Dream Cruises’ first ship, Genting Dream, kicked off its inaugural season yesterday when it departed from Naha, Japan, on Genting’s Journey to the Islands Gems of Japan summer itinerary.
Local performers welcomed the ship’s entrance in Naha and cruise line executives were joined by Japanese dignitaries, including Okinawa’s director general of the department of culture, tourism and sports, Takao Kadekaru, Okinawa Prefectural Government and the executive vice president of Naha Port Authority Tsutomu Kinjo.
The ship will now sail weekly every Sunday from Guangzhou, visiting Naha and Miyakojima, Japan, before returning to Guangzhou.
Genting Dream sports the highest crew-to-guest ratio in Asia, with 2,000 crew members serving 3,400 guests in 1,674 staterooms, 70% of which will have private balconies. The ship also features more than 35 bar and restaurant options, including the first-ever Johnnie Walker House at sea, where guests can sample whisky variants not available anywhere else.
