Ensemble Travel Group Names New Chief Executive Officer
by Daniel McCarthy /
Former travel agency owner David Harris is joining Ensemble Travel Group as the consortia’s Chief Executive Officer, a newly created position.
Harris, who has served as chairman and vice chairman of Ensemble’s North American Board for four years and a member of its Canadian Board for five years until 2013, will be based in Toronto and will travel to the group’s New York City offices on a regular basis. Ensemble co-presidents Lindsay Pearlman and Libbie Rice will report to Harris.
“Our recent 50-year anniversary and our success in 2018 has given us the opportunity to reflect and to draw upon what we have learned to strategize for 2019 and beyond,” Terri Jo Lennox, board chair said in a statement, adding that the hire will help Ensemble help “bring a broader global vision to the organization.”
Harris has spent his career in travel and became an agency owner when he purchased his parent’s 13-year-old travel agency in 1995. He also served as president and owner of M. Ross Harris Travel Limited.
In a statement, Harris said that he is “extremely excited to take the role. It is our responsibility to bring not only value but efficiencies, excitement and clarity to travel sales in this complex industry. We feel the opportunities are almost immeasurable, and I look forward to collaborating and ensuring this is accomplished in alignment with our strategic objectives.”
