French President Calls for Extension of Paris’s State of Emergency
French President Francois Hollande is presenting a bill to extend the state of emergency in Paris — granting police and military greater powers of search and arrest, and local governments the right to ban demonstrations and impose curfews — for another three months.
In doing so, Hollande called for an amendment to the French constitution in order to" allow the authorities to act ... against war-level terrorism."
Hollande also vowed to continue air strikes in Syria for weeks to come.
Salah Abdeslam, who French police named a key suspect in the attacks, is subject to an international arrest warrant by French police. Described as “public enemy number one,” he was still at large at press time.
