Hungry Biz Travelers Prefer Starbucks
If you think business travelers are big spenders, reconsider. A survey by Certify found that the most-often-expensed restaurant is Starbucks, followed by McDonald's and Subway. When it comes to hotels, corporate travelers move more upscale. Marriott was the most popular hotel, accounting for nearly 9% of all room nights expensed by Certify customers, with an average rate of $241. Hampton Inns was second with 8% and a $205 rate, followed by Marriott Courtyard with 5.6% and $171. Hyatt was the top-rated hotel, though. The top three airlines were: Delta, accounting for 20.5% of expensed air travel, with an average fare of $419. United was second, at 14% and $432, and American third, at 10% and an average fare of $376. Southwest was the top-rated airline among business travelers.
