Industry Legend Jimmy Murphy Passes Away
Travel industry legend Jimmy Murphy, co-founder of both Brendan Vacations and AmaWaterways, passed away Thursday at the age of 82. Murphy began his career with a retail travel agency in Dublin before moving to the U.S. and serving as a sales executive with Aer Lingus. He then co-founded Brendan Worldwide Vacations in 1969, which he sold in 2006. He also founded AmaWaterways with Rudi Schreiner and Kristen Karst in 2002. Murphy was inducted into the ASTA Hall of Fame in 2003.
