After rumors swirled last week that Virgin America may be looking for a buyer, Bloomberg is reporting that both JetBlue Airways and Alaska Air have submitted bids to buy the airline.
Both airlines are in negotiations with Virgin and a deal could be wrapped up by next week, though Virgin could still opt to call off any sale and remain independent.
Launched in 2007 by Richard Branson, Virgin America went public seven years later. It did not begin to see profits until 2013, but posted its largest profit in the fourth quarter of 2015, $190.9 million, up from $3.9 in the same quarter in 2014.
