JetBlue To Begin Cuba Service Next Month
by Daniel McCarthy /JetBlue’s historic first commercial flight to Cuba will touch down in Santa Clara on August 31.
JetBlue will fly the service from Fort Lauderdale on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before changing to a daily flight on October 1.
Fares for those flights start at $99 each way and include Cuban government-required health insurance and one checked bag. Cuba tourist visas required for entry into the country are provided to JetBlue passengers at check-in.
JetBlue in June was one of six U.S. airlines approved to fly to Cuban cities other than Havana. The others—American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Silver Airways, Southwest Airlines and Sun Country Airline—have yet to schedule service.
JetBlue also received permission to fly to Camaguey and Holguin from Fort Lauderdale; those routes will start on Nov. 3 and Nov. 10, respectively.
