JetSuite To Launch Scheduled Flights Using FBOs
by Doug Gollan /JetSuite, a private jet charter operator, is launching JetSuiteX, which will operated scheduled flights using FBOs to bypass congested commercial terminals. Check-in deadline will be just 15 minutes before departure.
The company is using Embraer ERJ135LRs previously operated by American Airlines' Envoy subsidiary, refurbished with 30 seats instead of 37. CEO Alex Wilcox told Travel Market Report that corporate travel will be a key component.
Ten jets are on order; when not being used for scheduled flights they could be put to work in a charter market for destination wedding and family groups, Wilcox said.
The first route will be from Burbank to Concord, about 30 miles outside of San Francisco, northeast of Oakland International. The airport last had scheduled service in 1992 via PSA before it was acquired by USAir. Other flights to Phoenix, San Diego, and Las Vegas are in the works, as is a seasonal weekly flight between San Jose and Bozeman.
