Los Cabos Airport Could Reopen by Oct. 8
Los Cabos International Airport could begin scheduled passenger air service as soon as Oct. 8, with full recovery of its facilities expected before Nov. 25. The Mexican Bureau of Civil Aviation issued a Notice to Airmen stating the airport will operate solely for official, humanitarian aid, rescue flights, and general aviation until Oct. 8, according to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico, which operates Los Cabos International.
Hotels are expected to reopen in phases, with all of them projected to be open by Dec. 20, according to Jack Richards, president of Pleasant Holidays. Richards attended a meeting of wholesalers, airlines, hotel companies, and the Mexico Tourism Board in New York City last week. Pleasant will send company representatives to Los Cabos after Oct. 8 to inspect the destination. “As soon as the airport opens, we’ll have boots on the ground,” Richards said.
