New Cruise Port To Come To Australia
by Daniel McCarthy /
Australia is upgrading one of its major cruise ports. The New South Wales government has announced that it will build a new multi-purpose cruise terminal in Newcastle, about 100 miles north of Sydney.
The terminal will cost over $13 million in Australian dollars (nearly $US10 million). It will accommodate ships up to 320 meters long, which will preclude dockings by Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ships, all more than 360 meters in length.
Construction is expected to start sometime next year, with completion in 2018.
