The Norwegian Joy will debut not only as Norwegian Cruise Line’s first purpose-built liner for China, but also as the first in the industry to debut a number of onboard features.
The ship’s accommodations will include the first at-sea concierge level, with larger balconies and a dedicated concierge to make dining and entertainment reservations.
For recreation, the Joy will have the first-ever competitive racetrack at sea—a two-level go-kart track where cruisers can race family and friends. It will also feature two multi-story water slides, hover craft bumper cars, an open-air laser tag course, and a new Galaxy Pavilion.
The Galaxy Pavilion is Norwegian’s first virtual-reality area, with simulator rides and interactive video walls. In “virtual reality by Oculus,” guests will be able to design and ride their own roller coaster.
Norwegian Joy’s open-space park offers greenery, a pool, and lounges, and its giant onboard shopping venue sports duty-free shops.
The Joy will homeport out of Shanghai and Tianjin (Beijing) when it debuts in summer 2017
