Piers Morgan Disses the Travel Industry on British TV
British travel agents and suppliers are up in arms over a slur by talk show host Piers Morgan on British television.
The host of Good Morning Britain called travel suppliers “greedy” for hiking prices during school holidays—and remained on the offensive when he interviewed ABTA spokesperson Sean Tipton about the issue.
Tipton tried to suggest that schools stagger their breaks by region so not everyone is vacationing at the same time, which in turn would keep prices more stable, but Morgan cut him off and barely allowed him to speak.
U.K.-based TravelMole.com reported on the tiff, sending even more agents to post their views on the Facebook forum Travel Gossip, calling the interview “hard to watch” and “a massive verbal knock down” against the travel industry.
