Premier of Bermuda Highlights Importance Of Travel Agents
by Doug Gollan /Travel agents provide an important link to consumers, Michael Dunkley from Premier of Bermuda told Travel Market Report during a visit to New York to promote the upcoming America's Cup host. The British territory is in the midst of seeing several hundred millions of dollars in investment in new hotels, refurbishments, and rebuilding of current resorts. A St. Regis and Reserve by Ritz-Carlton are on the way.
Dunkley said Bermuda is promoting itself as an active destination, offering trail biking, scuba, snorkeling, sport fishing, parasailing, waterskiing, kayaking, boating, horseback riding, and whale watching. Bermuda Tourism Authority has been assisting entrepreneurs who package and promote the experiential side of Bermuda, such as Hidden Gems of Bermuda, Ltd., an adventure travel operator that offers wet and dry cave explorations, cliff jumping, as well as photo tours and bird watching.
The Premier said the focus means Bermuda needs travel agents to explain all the options to their customers. The flagship of sailing takes place June 2017.
