Purchases of Travel Insurance are Up
A new survey by the U.S. Travel Insurance Association (UStiA) shows that trip disruptions and purchases of travel insurance are both on the rise. Nearly one in four U.S. travelers, or 23% of those polled, had their travels impacted by medical conditions, severe weather or other snafus in the year and a half ending in fall 2014, up from one in six (17%) the year before. The sampling of 1,005 adults revealed that 36% of those impacted by unforeseen events said they bought trip insurance, up from 22% the previous year.
