Robert De Niro To Open Luxury Hotel In London

Robert De Niro and the team behind the popular Greenwich Hotel in New York City are planning on opening a second property in London.
The Oscar-winning actor, along with hoteliers Ira Drukier and Richard Born, proposed an 83-room boutique hotel called The Wellington Hotel. To be located in London’s Covent Garden, the property will include a spa, two restaurants, a deli/café, and a members’ club built around a central courtyard. Construction is slated for 2017, with the opening set for 2019.
De Niro said the hotel will “honor the heritage of the area, while bringing the best of what we’ve done in New York to London.”
The Greenwich Hotel opened in 2008. Its celebrity guests include De Niro’s Silvers Lining Playbooks co-stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. The actor also owns the Nobu Hotel Manila in the Philippines.
