Robert M. Bloch, the former president and CEO of Riverside Travel in New York, passed away this week. He was 97.
Riverside Travel Service was founded in 1925 by Bloch’s mother. Bloch came aboard after graduating from the City College of New York in 1939 and eventually took over the business.
He spent his career with Riverside working in the travel industry. During his time heading the company, he was on the inaugural of a 747 and Concorde aircrafts in the 1970s.
Bloch also spent time on the advisory boards of TWA and Royal Viking Line and as the chair of the United Jewish Appeal.
After Bloch retired, his daughter Linda Bloch took over the business and joined Protravel International. It is still operating in New York today.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Share Cancer Support in New York.
