It’s been 32 months of labor, but Royal Caribbean International last week became the proud parent of its biggest baby ever—the mammoth Harmony of the Seas.
The world’s largest cruise ship, costing more than $1 billion, officially took its place as the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Michael Bayley, president and CEO, called it the “‘best of the best’ of what our guests love most about Royal Caribbean, combined with new and thrilling experiences never before found in one place.”
Some of its first-at-sea experiences include:
- A 100-foot drop with The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea, plunging 10 stories.
- 4.7 million pounds of water in 23 swimming pools, whirlpools, two FlowRider surf simulators, the Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, and the Splashaway Bay waterpark.
- The first double-story Wonderland specialty restaurant.
- The debut of Broadway’s hit musical Grease in the Royal Theater and diving shows in the AquaTheater.
- 11,252 works of art throughout the ship and Central Park, where trees grow over 20 feet high
- VOOM high-speed internet.
Harmony of the Seas has 16 guest decks in 2,747 staterooms, plus 20 dining venues, including Jamie's Italian by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
TMR editor Cheryl Rosen will be aboard the Harmony of the Seas on a press trip this weekend, so stay tuned for the inside scoop!
