Sabre Terminates Agreement with Lufthansa
by Daniel McCarthy /
On Tuesday, Sabre announced that it would be terminating its distribution agreement with all airlines in the Lufthansa group effective June 30.
The announcement comes as Lufthansa continues to hold talks with governments in Germany, Austria, and Belgium about state aid to help the airline survive the coronavirus crisis. It also comes as Lufthansa announces a resumption of 106 of its routes in June.
“The Lufthansa Group is open to constructive, solution-orientated discussions and is engaged in amicable talks with Sabre in the interest of Sabre and Abacus users,” Lufthansa wrote in a message to its trade partners on Tuesday.
“Beyond that, however, the Lufthansa Group airlines continue to work on making the distribution of flight tickets more innovative, attractive, and more customer-orientated, for you and our joint customers. Nevertheless, we are currently evaluating alternatives and will provide you with the best possible support.”
Lufthansa said it expects to give an update about its distribution in the coming weeks.
