Scenic Eclipse’s Debut Delayed

Scenic Eclipse’s Debut Delayed

Scenic Eclipse, the new yacht from Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, will now debut in January 2019 instead of August 2018, because of construction issues at Croatia’s Uljanik shipyard in Pula.

The company is currently in the process of contacting agents with guests scheduled to sail on Scenic Eclipse. They are providing full refunds for cruise fares and future cruise credits of up to 25 percent of the cost of a rebooked cruise. They will also cover other costs incurred with travel plans.

“Despite the best efforts of our build supervision team to make up construction time, we are not prepared to compromise the quality of the vessel and potentially impact guest experiences to meet the original launch date,” Scenic Founder and Chairman Glen Moroney said in a statement.

When the ship does launch, it will do so as the first ocean vessel from Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, featuring 114 suites, each with a private veranda and lounge.

The vessel will boast 10 different dining options; and a discovery fleet of Zodiacs, kayaks, e-bikes, a helicopter, and a submarine.

It will be designed to sail exploration itineraries, including cruises to the Arctic and Antarctic.

Eclipse will be joined by a sister ship, Eclipse II, in May 2020.
