SeatGuru Creates a Sabre Red App
by Michele McDonald /Sabre’s travel agency subscribers can incorporate a new SeatGuru Red App directly into the Sabre Red Workspace to help them select the best seats for their clients.
The new app, which can be ordered through the Sabre Red App Centre, is the result of a collaboration between Sabre and TripAdvisor, SeatGuru’s parent.
Seat maps & reviews
SeatGuru allows users to explore seat maps as well as specific seat information, such as limited recline or shortened armrests.
SeatGuru also contains reviews submitted by actual travelers. For example, one comment states that “Seat 22C does not recline, and its proximity to the lavatories may be bothersome. There is also limited overhead storage at this row.”
The seat information from the SeatGuru Red App will complement Sabre’s recently enhanced seat map and seat booking capabilities for airlines in the Sabre travel marketplace.
Agents also will have access to information about in-flight amenities, including entertainment options, wi-fi access, power and USB ports and meals.
More than 150 apps
The Sabre Red App Centre, launched in March 2012, provides an open platform and marketplace for developers to build and promote applications that can be integrated into the Sabre Red Workspace.
It now has more than 150 apps, with more in development by more than 70 certified providers.
The apps are individual applications that plug into the Sabre Red Workspace, extending its capabilities.
