Small Luxury Hotels of the World has opened its ninth hotel, the LaLiT London, in the U.K. capital. It’s the first overseas endeavor for New Delhi-based hotel company The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group.
Five years of renovation have transformed a run-down grammar school into a 70-room boutique hotel. The building’s original Victorian features now are combined with custom-made Indian and interiors and modern technology. Baluchi, a pan-Indian restaurant, now stands in the place of the former great hall, and some guest rooms have soaring 30-foot ceilings.
The restaurant features a Naanery that pairs wines with tandoor breads, an outdoor terrace and a High Chai Afternoon Tea.
Each guestroom has a local cellphone to helps guests learn their way around the city during their stay. And the hotel’s spa, Rejuve, offers a treatment that is known to enhance memory, improve sleep and normalize blood pressure.
