Southwest Airlines Will Match Elite Status Until End of the Year
by Daniel McCarthy /
Southwest Airlines is giving flyers the opportunity to join A-List, the airline’s elite status club, without having to rack up the 25 qualifying flights or 35,000 tier-qualifying points it requires.
Southwest is offering status match for flyers with elite status on another U.S. domestic airline other than Southwest from now until the end of the year. That means, travelers with status on Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and more, can enjoy those same benefits on Southwest.
Flyers with A-List status on Southwest get priority boarding, check-in, and security lane access, along with free same-day standby, a dedicated phone line, and a 25% earning bonus.
Those who take advantage of the status match can get an additional year of status if they fly three roundtrip flights within 90 days of enrollment.
To get the status match, flyers can sign up for Southwest’s Rapid Rewards through the Southwest website and then provide proof of their status with another U.S. airline so that Southwest can approve.
