The 443-room Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in St. Thomas will be closed through the end of next year as it rebuild from hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The resort is one of the largest on the island, accounting for 400 full-time and part-time workers, according to Governor Kenneth Mapp.
According to the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association, it’s one of four resorts that won’t reopen until 2019. The others include Sugar Bay Resort and Spa, Caneel Bay Resort and Flamboyan on the Bay Resort and Villas.
