Tauck Celebrates 90th Anniversary
Tauck earlier this month held a four-day celebration to kick off its 90th anniversary this year. Nearly 500 people gathered at Chateau Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies to mark the company's establishment by the then 27-year-old Arthur Tauck Sr. in 1925. An entrepreneur, inventor and traveling salesman, Tauck brought his first paying guests with him along on an 1,100-mile sales trip through New England. He offered commentary and noted the sights for his passengers as they traveled each morning, and made sales calls each afternoon while his guests sampled the facilities at that night's resort lodgings.
Today the company operates more than 100 land tours, European river cruises and small ship ocean cruises in more than 70 countries on all seven continents. In connection with its anniversary year, Tauck will debut a virtual Tauck Time Capsule on its website, www.tauck.com. The Time Capsule, in the form of a timeline, will feature milestones in the company's history. Its Where in the World is Arthur Tauck? photo project will show a 1920s photo of Arthur Sr. in the kind of worldwide itineraries the elder Tauck could only imagine when he founded the company. The images will ultimately be posted in a scrapbook on Tauck's website.
