Temporary Pre-Check Enrollment Centers Pop Up Nationwide

The Transportation Security Administration has hired a third party, MorphoTrust, to manage “pop-up” Pre-Check enrollment centers in 13 U.S. cities this summer.
Each center will be open for just a week or two, offering a brief but more convenient site for travelers to apply for the Pre-Check program.
The first centers opened this week in the New York metro area, at Penn Station, the Hilton JFK Airport hotel and the Newark Airport Marriott. More will appear in Dallas and Miami starting July 19; Chicago and Orlando starting July 26; and Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Seattle in August.
The Pre-Check program offers expedited airport checkpoint clearance to pre-screened travelers for an $85 fee. But the mandatory off-site personal interviews have dampened applications, TSA said.
In the end, since TSA had cut its airport staffing based on high projections of the number of travelers who would sign up for Pre-Check, the program actually has made security lines worse.
Travelers should visit MorphoTrust’s website for dates and times the centers are open.
