The Barclay, A NYC Classic, Reopens
by Adam Stumpf /The InterContinental New York Barclay has reopened after a 20-month, $180 million renovation. Interior design firm HOK, architects Stonehill + Taylor, and Shawmut Construction restored the Manhattan hotel, which originally opened in 1926.
The hotel’s 704 guest rooms are designed to portray a classic Park Avenue home. Artwork along with a 1920-esque gin bar reflect the hotel’s legacy, blending history and modern design. The hotel also holds extensive meeting and event space.
The Barclay also hopes to be one of the first hotels to execute the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
