Travel Market Report Names Crocker Senior Contributing Editor; Will Cover Consortia And Host Agency Groups
Marilee Crocker has been named senior contributing editor for Travel Market Report. In her new role, Crocker will be responsible for Headquarters Happenings, TMR’s exclusive feature column that interviews the top executives at consortia and host agencies. Crocker will share responsibility with TMR’s editor Cheryl Rosen for representing TMR at the consortia and host conferences.
“Travel Market Report was founded in 2009 as the voice of the travel professional. Our vision was to be 100% aligned with the interests of retail travel agents rather than advertisers, OTAs or consumer-direct initiatives that bypassed trade readers,” said Anne Marie Moebes, Travel Market Report co-publisher and executive vice president. “Our edict has always been to provide equitable coverage that unifies all the consortia, hosts and retail agents and promotes their interests against competitive forces that are much better funded.”
Travel Market Report has taken a leadership position in supporting the travel agency associations and taking editorial positions against regulations that might hamper our travel agent readers. It has been a leader in reporting on how travel agents keep their customers on the go despite disruptions, writing about the value agents bring to the travel planning process, holding suppliers to account when they introduce policies that are not agent-friendly, and uncovering the long trail of consumer complaints generated by the OTAs despite their multi-billion marketing campaigns. In January, TMR published "The Cruise Report Card," a first-ever comparison of dozens of different policies that impact travel agents.
The Headquarter Happenings column covers consortia and host agencies’ marketing and technology news. It runs on a rotating basis to ensure all groups are covered equitably and fairly.
Crocker has held top editorial positions at Travel Weekly and Meetings & Conventions, and served as editor of TMR from 2011 to 2014. Her in-depth reporting on industry and consumer trends has earned her multiple editorial accolades, including Folio Gold and Silver awards for excellence in reporting. And her interest in home-based businesses inspired her to launch biz@home, a nationally syndicated newspaper column that ran for many years.
A recent survey of more than 400 travel agents rated Travel Market Report as the #1 trade publication travel agents most trust, the #1 source of the most helpful information, and the #1 source that best represents the interests of travel agents. TMR readers are top producers, averaging $1.5 million in personal sales, and are heavily focused on groups, cruises, luxury, premium, land vacations, escorted tours, wellness and destination weddings.
