The TTC’s TreadRight Foundation has announced a new project partnership with The Cristina Heeren Foundation of Flamenco Art in Seville, Spain, in celebration of World Flamenco Day.
World Flamenco Day, which is celebrated every Nov. 16, is a celebration of the culture and tradition surrounding the art of Flamenco. Flamenco was declared a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations' UNESCO culture body. And though it is now a professionalized art form, it originated from a variety of folk traditions throughout Spain.
The proposed partnership will help to establish four scholarships for advanced guitar, vocal, and dance students of the Foundation. The TreadRight scholarships will be dedicated to providing these advanced students with the financial resources needed to complete their training.
“We are delighted to be partnering with The Cristina Heeren Foundation to help support the brilliant young artists working to keep this beautiful tradition alive and thriving,” said Brett Tollman, chief executive and founder of the TreadRight Foundation. “It represents such an incredible and indelible contribution to Spanish culture and heritage, as well as world culture and heritage.”
