Tropical Storm Erika Heads for Puerto Rico, Florida
According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Erika is excepted to hit Puerto Rico on Thursday and impact Florida as soon as Sunday or Monday. The storm, which is carrying 40 mph winds right now, is a minimal tropical storm but is expected to pick up steam as it moves north. The National Hurricane Center has issued storm warnings for Puerto Rico, St. Martin, the British Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, among other islands. There have been five named tropical storms so far this year, and only one of those storms, Danny, became a hurricane. However, Danny never reached Florida, disappearing in the Caribbean on Monday.
