Tropical Storm Franklin Knocks Carnival Cruise Line Sailings Off Course
by Daniel McCarthy /
Tropical Storm Franklin made landfall over the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula late last night and with it brought 60 mph winds and heavy rain.
While most travel has gone unaffected in the area, Carnival Cruise Line made changes to two of its ships itineraries in anticipation of the storm.
Carnival Breeze will skip a scheduled call in Cozumel today and will change its Wednesday stop from Belize City to Roatan. Its originally schedule Roatan call on Thursday will be replaced with Belize City.
It will then stop at Cozumel on Friday instead of a scheduled day at sea.
Carnival Fantasy, which left for a five-night sailing out of Mobile on Saturday, will now call at Cozumel on Wednesday and Costa Maya on Thursday (Costa Maya was Wednesday’s originally scheduled call).
