Unique Vacations Names New CEO
by Jessica Montevago /Tammy Gonzalez started at Unique Vacations in 1985.
Unique Vacations Group, the representative of Sandals Resorts International, has appointed Tammy Gonzalez as its chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Gonzalez began her career with Unique Vacations—the sales, marketing, public relations and creative branches for all Sandals brands—over three decades ago, most recently serving as executive vice president. She will now be responsible for the company’s activities worldwide.
Going forward, Gonzalez said that “while we are cognizant some situations may affect our business, from changing distribution channels to challenging world events,” she’s focused on leading innovations that improve the guest experience and creating demand.
Unique Vacations also promoted Andy Blanco, previously senior director of finance, to chief financial officer.
Gonzalez said maintaining the company’s relationship with agents is paramount. “Travel agents are central to our sales strategy. They are deeply knowledgeable about our resorts and are the best resource to match guests to their best Sandals experience,” she told TMR. Unique Vacations offers both training and rewards programs for agents.
“Agents selling Sandals Resorts can be supremely confident in their choice,” Gonzalez noted. “From beachfront locations to unique accommodations—like the new over-the-water bungalows that are coming to Sandals Royal Caribbean this fall, the Caribbean’s first over the water suites—our brands are best in class.”
Sandals Resorts International includes Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts brands, as well as Fowl Cay Resort and Your Jamaican Villas.
