W Hotels to Open First Italian Property

W Hotels has signed its first property in Italy, W Rome, set to debut in 2021.

Situated near the famous Spanish Steps, the W Rome will feature 159 guestrooms and suites, including the brand’s signature Extreme WOW Suite, a fitness center, and spa. An expansive rooftop overlooks the Italian cityscape, where a bar offers guests and locals a spot to enjoy craft cocktails. Inside, they can gather in the W Living Room, two restaurants, or 120 square meters of modern event space.

The hotel will span two adjacent 19th century properties on Via Liguria and be developed by Omnam Group through a real estate fund managed by Kryalos SGR.

Marriott International has further plans to expand the W brand across Europe, with ten new hotels planned in the regions, including the opening of W Hotels in Madrid, Belgrade and Portugal’s Algarve coast in 2019, followed by Prague and Budapest in 2020. In addition to Rome, W Hotels is also slated to debut in Marbella and Edinburgh in 2021. The brand currently operates seven properties in Europe.
