Wellness Rooms, Fight Simulators Highlight New Health Options on Land & Sea
by Maria Lenhart /MGM Grand to Debut “Stay Well” Rooms
The MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will unveil 42 "Stay Well" rooms and suites designed to improve sleep, reduce allergens and promote healthy eating. The new rooms, which are part of a $160 million renovation at the 5,044-room property, will be priced at about $30 above standard rooms. Advisors from Columbia University Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic were consulted in the rooms’ design and features.
The Stay Well rooms, which debut later this month, will include lighting designed to improve sleep-wake cycles, an advanced air purification system and shower water infused with vitamin C to neutralize chlorine. A special room service menu will offer dishes created by the Cleveland Clinic such as organic steel-cut oatmeal and a tofu vegetarian sandwich, and minibars will contain healthy items. Guests also receive vouchers for three six-week programs offered online by the Cleveland Clinic covering sleep, stress and healthy eating.
