Asiana Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to begin a detailed evaluation of the Amadeus Altéa Customer Management System.
Under the terms of the MOU, Asiana will set the timeline for its assessment and planning for the implementation of Altéa.
The Altéa solution comprises three modules: Altéa Reservation, which shares a common technology platform with the Amadeus Selling Platform used by travel agencies, providing tighter integration; Altéa Inventory for flight schedule management, and Altéa Departure Control, which automates all airport processes, from check-in to irregularity handling.
Asiana is a member of the Star Alliance, and Altéa is the technological base for the Star Alliance Common IT Platform.
Justin Erbacci, vice president of information technology for the alliance, said, “As more of our members opt for this solution, our ability to greatly improve time to market, reduce costs of ongoing development work and enable a seamless service offering across our global network will be enhanced.”
Thirteen Star Alliance carriers have opted for the full Altéa suite.
