Lowe's Unveils Med Travel Benefit

Lowe's will offer its employees heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, under an alliance between the hospital and home improvement chain.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's Cos. announced the new benefit will provide full-time workers and their covered dependents with the "best of the best" in cardiac care, with lower out-of-pocket expenses than at other facilities.

Lowe's said that it will cover all medical deductibles and co-payments for elective, prescheduled heart surgery at the Clinic, and will pay travel and lodging costs for the patient and a companion to go to Cleveland.

Palm Springs Recovery

Chateau Amber Retreat, a new luxury resort in Palm Springs, is offering post-cosmetic surgery recovery programs that include care from a team of experienced medical professionals 24 hours a day. Luxury transportation, accommodations, and special diet meals are served bedside in choices of rooms, suites and villas.

The facility is housed in the Viceroy Hotel with fully equipped accommodations, and Chateau Amber guests can use the hotel's Estrella Spa. Special menus have been specifically designed and can be individualized depending on doctor's orders.

Chateau Amber Retreat works closely with referring surgeons and primary care physicians. Its on-site caretakers are RNs, LVNs and Certified Nurse Aides -- all nurses are well trained in wound care and home infusion therapy, according to the company. The facility is near Desert Regional Hospital and local pharmacies.
