NEWS FLASH! Top Johns Hopkins Exec to Speak at Well-Being Travel Conference

Steven J. Thompson, a top Johns Hopkins executive and presidential appointee to the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, has been announced as a key presenter at the Well-Being and Medical Travel Conference, June 20-21 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Thompson is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, an arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine whose mission is to establish international programs. Thompson brings more than 25 years of experience in academic medicine and at academic health centers.

In January, Thompson was appointed by the Obama administration to serve on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, which advises the Commerce Department on policies and issues affecting travel and tourism.

“Steven Thompson’s appointment to the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board demonstrates the value that health-related travel and tourism contributes to the U.S. economy,” said Anne Marie Moebes, executive vice president of Well-Being Travel, co-sponsor of the conference.

“Our Well-Being and Medical Travel Conference 2012 is an educational event. But it’s also a gathering of thought leaders that will spark innovations and propel the medical and wellness travel industries to new levels of adoption by consumers,” Moebes said.

The Well-Being and Medical Travel Conference will take place June 20-21 at the five-star Phoenician resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. Registration for travel agents is $199. To learn more or register visit www.well-beingtravelconference.com.
