Abercrombie & Kent Is Adding a New Peru Riverboat
by Daniel McCarthy /Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) is growing its riverboat portfolio with the addition of a brand-new riverboat Peruvian riverboat.
The ship will officially sail starting in April 2025, marking the first riverboat in South America for A&K. The ship’s name has yet to be revealed.
The ship includes 10 double cabins and two single cabins that can be booked either as a charter or by individual cabins. Outside of the cabins, the ship also offers an outdoor swimming pool, gym, massage room, and both indoor and outdoor lounge and bar areas.
A&K will sail the ship with a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, offering three- and four-night itineraries from Iquitos to Nauta, taking guests through the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
The two itineraries can be combined for a 7-night itinerary, roundtrip from Nauta, which includes time on the Marañon and Ucayali rivers.
“The launch of this new riverboat marks a momentous chapter for Abercrombie & Kent,” says Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. “This venture embodies our unwavering commitment to delivering experiences that are not only luxurious but also deeply enriching and sustainable. We are excited to introduce our guests to the untold stories and serene beauty of the Peruvian Amazon in a manner that honors and preserves the essence of this remarkable destination.”
The ship is a collaboration between A&K and Ecoventura, which has long been operating in the Galapagos. A&K invested in Ecoventura in 2022.
The new riverboat is just one of many new additions coming for A&K over the next two years. Executives joined travel advisor partners earlier this month at its 100 Club event in Chicago to tease what else is on the schedule, which includes new DMCs, new Sanctuary Retreats, and new Crystal Cruise ships.
