Explora Journeys’ CEO Michael Ungerer to Leave
by Dori Saltzman /Michael Ungerer is leaving his role as CEO of Explora Journeys, with Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the cruise division at MSC Group taking over his responsibilities for the time being.
Ungerer is leaving for undisclosed “personal reasons.” He will remain as an advisor for the brand through the end of August.
He has served as CEO for nearly five years, during which he played a key role in establishing the brand and launching its first ship, Explorer I.
“It has been an absolute pleasure working alongside Michael as we have brought to life this incredible new brand and built everything from the bottom up,” Vago said. “I would like to thank Michael for his efforts and contribution, and we wish him well for the future.”
“Creating a new luxury hospitality brand from scratch in today’s world has been a true, once in a lifetime opportunity, and an incredible journey,” Ungerer said.
