Disney Cruise Line Reveals Details of Next New Ship

Disney Cruise Line’s next new ship – it’s sixth in the fleet – will be the Disney Treasure. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products chairman Josh D’Amara revealed the name at the company’s fan-focused D23 Expo this past weekend.

D’Amaro also revealed that Disney Treasure will be designed with a brand-new motif unlike anything the line has done before.

Inspired by the grandeur of a gilded palace, the Grand Hall, for instance, will draw on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, while paying homage to the land of Agrabah from Disney’s “Aladdin.” The signature atrium character statue – a Disney Cruise Line tradition – will be a shimmery representation of Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet soaring toward a “whole new world of adventure.”

“At the heart of every adventure, there’s a treasure, and we can’t wait for you to create memories onboard this spectacular ship,” he said.

The 1,254-stateroom Disney Treasure is scheduled for delivery in 2024. It’s the second of three planned Wish-class ships that are powered by LNG fuel.

Lighthouse Point
D’Amaro also shared a small update about the cruise line’s second private destination in the Bahamas. Lighthouse Point, located on the island of Eleuthera, will be a beach retreat offering beaches, a recreation center, dining, shopping, a water playground, cultural pavilion and more.

Disney has committed to developing less than 20% of the property, to supply 90% of the site’s power from solar energy, and to donating more than 190 acres of privately-owned land to the government.
